Be the Art

I know a day at the museum isn't most people's ideal occasion to pop out with a picturesque outfit but as someone who loves getting photographed no matter where they're at, I make it a point to always look my best. With that being said, its necessary for me to put some thought into where I'm headed and what look would be appropriate to wear. When I think of a museum, the word classy floats through my mind. Perhaps it's the overall studious vibe of a place that provides so much information on history or maybe its being surrounded by likeminded philomaths (lovers of learning).

My personal definition of classy in the avenue of style consists of soft tones and layers. I had this periwinkle corduroy button down from Zara sitting in my closet for a few weeks now and I knew this would be the perfect occasion to pull it out. In an effort to keep it simple, I chose to pair it with a plain white long sleeve shirt from H&M. This not only helped keep the overall "soft toned" look that I was going for but was a good neutral color break for the bottom half of my outfit. Now on this particular trip to the museum I was intending on visiting a streetwear exhibit that I've also done a blog post on, which you can read about here. With that in mind, I definitely wanted to add some touches of streetwear into my look as an homage to the exhibition. I paired one of my absolute favorite sneakers, the Aleali May Air Jordan 1's, with the rest of my outfit. The periwinkle swoosh going perfectly with my top couldn't have been coordinated any better. I love the vibrancy of these sneakers and the possibility to pair them with so many different looks. The bright blue on them also complimented my Uniqlo x Kaws tote bag. I knew a dark pant would work best for the flow of this outfit so to keeps things interesting I decided to go with a black leather legging instead of plain denim. It definitely escalated my outfit to the level of extra I aim to be at.

An outfit like this is easily replicable with different colors and garments and can be worn to a variety of events. I'd love to know what your ideal outfit to the museum would be. Are you more of a classy blazer & dress shoe kind of person or are you also a sneakerhead-no-matter-where-I'm-at kind of dresser?
