Spring Break Ideas 2020: What to do in Atlanta

In the midst of wrapping up my midterm exams, I was reminded by my peers that spring break was just around the corner. Almost all my friends collectively agreed to let this be a "stay at home & chill" kind of break due to the continuous gloomy weather. If you live in or around Atlanta, you know that we've had no shortage of rain this year. In fact, it's stated to have been the 2nd wettest year on record for the city! And with a fatal virus making its rounds throughout the world, I also wasn't jumping at the idea of taking any flights to enjoy my spring break elsewhere. I knew I wanted to make the most out of my time away from school and with somewhat limited options, I started looking into some fun things to do close to home.

1. Atlanta Fair

The Atlanta Fair will have its grand opening this weekend March 6th at the Georgia State University stadium and will remain open until April 12th. Going to the fair will always be one of my favorite seasonal activities due to the fact that you can enjoy it with pretty much everyone important in your life. I'm talking friends, family, and even dates. Whether you're only buying a ticket for some funnel cake or you're ready to win a stuffed bear for your boo, I think fairs are the ultimate outing for anyone looking for a fun time.

2. Atlanta Brunch Fest

As an avid bruncher, I felt an obligation to add the Atlanta Brunch Festival to this list. On March 7th there will be a delicious line up of some of the best restaurants in the city sampling their brunch foods for anyone willing to snag a ticket for this all-you-can-eat event. Bottomless mimosas, bloody mary's, and brunch punches will be in rotation accompanied with live music and DJ sets. This is the perfect daytime date idea or even just a moment to look good and eat great alongside your girlfriends.

3. TFTI Experience

As immersive photo experiences are taking major cities by storm, I was excited to find out TFTI was coming to Atlanta. As someone who loves taking pictures as much as I liked being photographed, I knew this would be a great activity to allow my creative juices to flow. I went with one of my close homies and what we thought would be a quick snap of some pictures turned into a full on photo-off. Having the freedom to use each decorated room whichever way we pleased was really nice and I definitely stepped into my Top Model headspace as I figured out new ways to creatively pose for each section. It was tons of fun and I recommend anyone who isn't camera shy to test it out themselves before their last day on March 29th.

Here are a few more flicks I got at the TFTI Experience:

While I know the easiest way to spend spring break would be relaxing and binge watching the latest reality dating show, I'm hoping these quick ideas gave some of you the push to get out and try to have fun with your time away from the books. Let me know in the comment section below how you plan on spending your spring break this year or if any of these ideas sound like something you'd try out!

Great post! Definitely gonna look into the TFTI experience for my upcoming spring break. I was hoping to travel but with this virus spreading rapidly it would be smarter to stay local this year :-(
